ConvertKit Review

ConvertKit is a great way to send out emails and build landing pages at the same time. Because of the free trial, it is an excellent choice for content creators. In this review, you will learn everything you need to know about ConvertKit.

You will get all the features of ConvertKit’s paid plans with the option to sign up for them regardless of which paid plan you choose. A free platform migration is the only feature not included in the lower tiers of the subscription, but it is included with the free platform subscription. With a plan for 5,000 contacts or more, you no longer have to worry about things like migrating lists into the system as they’ll do it for you.

It’s only your total number of subscribers that should be taken into consideration since this is the one category that changes from one plan to the next. The cost for an email list of up to 1,000 recipients is $29. For email lists smaller than 3,000 subscribers, it’s $49. And for lists larger than 5,000 subscribers, it’s $79 each.

What Is ConvertKit And What Is It For?

ConvertKit is a marketing tool that is specifically created for content creators. Content creators include bloggers, writers, course developers, writers, designers, and more.

This service also helps users create landing pages that help them sell everything from services to products, all through email. Imagine it as a cross between MailChimp and Infusionsoft, but it is actually a lot cheaper and easier to use.

Our mission is to create a community for content creators to find success and create an environment where they are happy with and enjoy whatever they do. An individual may have a blog, a poetry website, a podcast, a youtube channel, or any other form of media.

How ConvertKit Works — Detailed Features

1. How To Grow An Email Subscriber List

To use ConvertKit, you can either create a landing page or a form so that you can gather the names and email addresses of subscribers for your organization.

I publish forms regularly on this site to convert readers into subscribers. You can embed these forms on blog posts and other web pages with a different design so that they match the look and feel of your website.

If you want to send someone a welcome email after signing up for your list, you can write your own welcome email. ConvertKit will send this to anyone who joins the list. You may also include a gift or content upgrade.

You can embed the form on your website by placing a code created by ConvertKit in the appropriate place on your website. You may also put another variation of the code on the site to make it more visible and encourage subscribers to subscribe.

It’s also possible if you use WordPress plugins, and this will appear automatically beneath your posts. You can repurpose the forms the same way over the various pages and posts.

ConvertKit has a lot of online videos and they’ve also got their support team who usually respond to emails quickly. Their help desk on the other hand is far better than most.

There’s a dashboard in ConvertKit for tracking subscribers and list growth, as well as what people have chosen to receive by giving them that option.

Also, you can see how the landing page and content upgrade performed on various time frames such as over the past 30, 60, or 90 days.

Before writing their blog post or creating new content, a professional blogger or content creator can concentrate on the marketing activities they can perform.

2. Is it possible to promote a post on a blog?

There’s more to blogging than simply publishing a blog post and hoping people will read it. Promoting your blog writing is crucial to make sure your content gets read, and you can’t count on a single tweet or share on Facebook to get the word out.

Content creators should not overlook the importance of email marketing in their marketing strategies.

Let me tell you what I do:

My blog posts are published every Thursday, whether on my site, on Medium, or somewhere else. To promote each week’s post, I send out a broadcast email via ConvertKit to some of my email subscribers. I send out at least two of these broadcast emails a week.

Now, people are busy, so they often miss our email messages because their inboxes are so full. Thus, my open rate usually hovers at around 30 percent.

The ConvertKit tool allows me to resend this broadcast to people who did not open the first one by just clicking a button. I can also change the subject line and the content of the email within a single click.

You can increase open rates by using this resend email feature to send the post again to subscribers who might have missed it the first time around.

Resending your messages to unopened emails is a clever way to ensure people are getting your work even though you didn’t actually send the same email to everyone on your list. You can even use this feature during a launch to increase your bookings and sales.

3. Providing content upgrades for our users.

You can have your email list grow faster by offering content upgrades to your existing subscribers.

What is a content upgrade?

Your readers can get this bonus free if they opt-in to your list using their email address when they read your blog articles or join your email list after reading your posts.

Some examples of content that can be upgraded on becoming a Writer Today include book chapters, videos, worksheets, and so on.

  • a blogging template for those who use Scrivener.
  • a spreadsheet for tracking an individual’s writing output daily.
  • the costs involved in writing a book, broken down by the amount of each item
  • a free book of writing prompts.

My favorite way to grow an email list is to upload content upgrades into ConvertKit and have them delivered automatically to readers who opt-in. This is one of my favorite ways to build an email list quickly.

4. Basic email marketing strategies

ConvertKit automatically sends readers follow-ups several days later when they click on the links in an email to read my book The Power of Creativity. These follow-ups ask them to leave a review.

When someone clicks on a link, they are automatically added to an automated sequence or series of emails.

The ConvertKit user community can search for cold email subscribers, send them an invitation email and then remove non-responders from the list, which in turn helps deliverability. Users can remove non-responders from their list and prune the list accordingly.

It took me an hour to set up automation, write email copy, test my copy and make sure that everything ran smoothly. Once that was done, I only needed to check my stats every week to see if readers were engaged.

The most common online marketing automation service, Infusionsoft, offers similar capabilities to ConvertKit, although they cost thousands more to get and run.

5. The Hosting of Landing Pages

Several landing page templates are available from ConvertKit. You can adjust the look and feel using a WordPress plugin. Users can also use the templates hosted by ConvertKit directly on their website.

My landing page allows book readers to sign up for my emailing list. I give them a free bonus if they sign up for my email list at the beginning of the book. This leads to a ConvertKit landing page.

In terms of features, the landing page software offered by ConvertKit is not as powerful as what is offered by LeadPages, but they cover most of the usual use cases.

6. Sending Email Messages by Autoresponder

Almost all professional bloggers and content creators utilize autoresponders. This means that new email subscribers receive an automated series of emails during their first month.

You might want to include the following things in your autoresponder:

  • You need to introduce yourself, your work, and your writing so that others will be able to get to know you.
  • Please send a series of educational messages or advice relating to your latest book.
  • Share the most popular blog posts on your blog with new subscribers.
  • You need to find out more about your new subscribers by surveying to find out what they want/need/fear/dream/frustration (like a good copywriter!).
  • We recommend that you introduce a soft-sell strategy that includes referring to a particular book you’re selling and asking readers to buy copies of it.

It can be quite overwhelming for a first-time autoresponder creator to create an autoresponder series from scratch; ConvertKit makes it easy by providing a drag-and-drop visual editor to put it together quickly and easily.

7. The Selling Of Products And Services

It is possible to set up a ConvertKit campaign inside a ConvertKit account and sell products and services directly over an email program. You might sell:

  • A book
  • A course
  • Coaching
  • A webinar

The application does not only track sales via a dashboard, but also assigns a monetary value to email subscribers. Payments will also be made via Stripe.

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have yet another cool feature?

We can trigger email automation for specific clients. For example, clients will get one set of emails, and new subscribers will get another set. I also use this feature to email out discounts for software I am an affiliate for, to all recipients who are more likely to respond.

8. A step-by-step Guide to Automation Marketing

ConvertKit is an excellent marketing automation tool and offers several features that make the process much easier and faster.

My courses include a lot of rules, for example, I set one up for Write Your Book.

As soon as someone buys this course from Teachable, ConvertKit creates a user account to categorize them under the ‘student’ tag so they can be automatically emailed with helpful information about this course.

It will be possible for me to utilize this tag to send an email directly to these subscribers and monitor the dollar value of those subscribers.

ConvertKit Integrates with many outside services like GumRoad, SamCart, WebinarNinja, LeadPages, and more. You can also connect it to Zapier. If you do, you can have automation based on how you use these services.

However, marketing automation requires a high level of technical expertise. I’ve set up several forms and sequences in ConvertKit. The visual tools are valuable, but the complex sequences and automation rules can prove to be overwhelming.

Pricing for ConvertKit

There is a free trial for you to experiment with ConvertKit. If, after that, you wish to make use of the full features of the program, you should expect to pay about $29 per month. ConvertKit creator Pro costs $59 a month.

However, those prices assume you have 1,000 subscribers. As your list grows, the price goes up. You can check ConvertKit’s pricing by adjusting the sliding scale from the left.

Does ConvertKit deserve the time and money it costs?

The monthly fee of USD29 for ConvertKit may be unaffordable for content creators. However, you can always test the free plan before moving your list to the paid plan.

It is relatively straightforward to cover the cost of your email marketing subscription when you have a modest list and are happy to sell some products or services.

If you have over 10,000 contacts and need advanced analytics, then ConvertKit Creator Pro is the only way to go.

The ConvertKit Review: A Final Word

Nathan Barry and the other team members of ConvertKit developed this email marketing software specifically with content creators, i.e. bloggers, in mind. Nowadays, just about every small business with an online presence can take advantage of it.

What are the Pros and Cons?

The Pros are:

  1. Landing Page — With this simple tool, you can create a simple landing page even if you don’t have a website of your own. This can be very useful when running social media campaigns.
  2. Manage user subscriptions with ease: The tagging system makes it easy for subscribers to be added to your workflows and also be removed from them.
  3. The support that responds to our needs: Their support team is responsive, and (in our experience) they normally reply really quickly.

The Cons are:

  1. In my opinion, it is too expensive: I believe there are other tools similar in features to Active Campaign or GetResponse that are cheaper.
  2. Lack of design options: There are only three templates on offer, which are all text-based. More effective design options should be provided to get the best visual results.
  3. The reports do not provide enough information: They provide only the basics: open rates, click-through rates and unsubscribe rates, but they don’t tell you the bounce rate.

We can honestly say ConvertKit did quite well in several areas. For example, the customer support team was very helpful and friendly. One thing we can say is that there was nothing wrong with this product. Also, we liked the way it made it easy to manage subscribers via its tagging options.

It’s a great advantage that bloggers can use to reach their audiences by doing what is presented in the course of their texts to the person with whom they are conversing when they are targeted by this method.

ConvertKit is available for free for 30 days.
